I was just curious as to what to expect during the anger stage of healing. I was told that it could get violent as the survivor deals with all of the pain. Has anyone experienced this from their partner or spouse during the process? If so, how did you handle it?

first, wnted to tnk ya for ansring my pm. i feel the anger thing has to do wi the person. i think it all depends. ya know, how bruised inside they are, how deep the anger is and that is how much it comes out.

my bf's anger stage has been going on for years I reckon! He had very much anger after disclosing about the abuse with his sister, but has only just begun therapy in the last six months, so back then(5 years ago) the anger had no clear focus to it and a lot of it came at me, although not physically, thank God! He did throw/break/kick things in the house and there were times when I felt very intimidated and scared, although I didn't realise it then. More recently, since he disclosed about the teacher, and through therapy, he has a healthier outlet for his anger, and goes upstairs to violently beat pillows, shout, etc. He has an enormous amount of anger inside him and I believe it's probably really important to be able to find personal ways to allow that some expression. I think it's been empowering for him to realise it, allow, express it, own it.

peace
