I have just sat down to do my homework set to me by my Anger Management team, its due in tomorrow morning and do you know what?

I havent lost my temper or raised my voice this week, very strange although a little scary as I am sure that it was "my anger that kept me alive" when on the streets. But equaling that out with "my anger kept me drunk" I will settle for being calm, chilled and listening to some "dam fine" music.

I do however channel my anger into doing something positive (now) for the SA community in the UK or anywhere else for that matter. And that positive can be anything from writing a letter to a politician, Child Protection Officers or learning something about the Criminal Justice System and how it fails children generally.

Criminal Justice System and how it fails children generally.
I have an aquaintance who is a barrister who is pretty high in his profession.

I asked him the same question, and he had no real reply.

I said to him that I can enlighten him, on some of the issues faced by kids.

I also informed him, that kids do not get offered any counselling unless their families seek it.

He was of the opinion, that we just "get over it with time".

I informed him that, if a kid doesnt get counselling from the outset, then he is going to live his life with it.

Anyway, I am doing stuff for him to read, and because of his position, he may be able to influence people too.

Even if he doesnt, at least it will give him valuable insight into our World,

do you think that sometimes just making the decision to do 'something' makes a lot of difference on its own?

It's accepting that we own that problem that's always the difficult part.

"do you think that sometimes just making the decision to do 'something' makes a lot of difference on its own?"

Yes very much so Dave.

Acceptance for me has always been difficult as it took a long time, approx 30 years to accept that i had an alcohol/drug problem, as soon as i accepted that, things started to fall into thier rightful place.

They all need educating including judges and politicians but are they going to listen to the likes of me or you in my case an ex drunk, addict and petty criminal ... I dont think so somehow, but we can at least try.

Kirk and Dave,

it is only in this past year, that I find that I have a voice.

Whoever I talk to in life, then they have their own little or big opinions on what abuse is all about.

Yes, people think that it is repulsive, but the biggest stumbling block, is that they think that somehow, memories fade.

I have been hit with comments ranging from, Oh, it is a one off, or, everybody has their own ups and downs in life.

You can write a hundred letters, you may get just one reply, that reply can make all the difference to the World.

Yes, write to the house of Lords, write to the judiciary, and ask for a reply, because they are legally bound to reply.

In a World that changed us, do we not have a right to change this World?

I am slowly working on my own project, it is slow, because of its nature, but it will hit home pretty hard, and people will listen.

We all have a voice, and the more of us that speak up, then we have done our bit,
