An image of acting out-the film "Magnolia"
Guys, I just rented the film Magnolia over the weekend and a scene in it blew me away! It was about acting out past trauma.
For all who have not seen it about 8 minutes into the film there is a scene in which an adult female survivor of incest reenacts the abuse with a stranger she piks up at a bar. The real kicker is that while she is in the act she is watching an image of her original perpetrator on her tv screen. It was a really powerful scene for me.
On this board lately I have read a post speaking to reenacting past traumatic events and I had to mention the scene from this movie. It really took me aback and may be a great image of what acting out a self-abusive behavior is all about. Sincerely,
rafael
