Anyone has/had any experience with Ambien?

Ive just got back from my doc and after almost 2 hours of drugs talking, Ive decided to stay away from stronger drugs right now, as long as I can get some sleep. I really do not see medication as a long term solution, I just need some sleep, I dont want to be addicted to anti-depressants and I dont think I can cope with all the side effects anyway.

So, weve decided to try this pill, it seems it works very well and very fast, he told me to take them only when Im ready to go to bed. He also told me that I should be ready to sleep at least 8 hours no problem with that! Ill take 10mg/day for 10 days and then well re-evaluate it and see if I still need it. Its just for sleeping, no help for my depressions or flashbacks, but thats what I need right now.

Ive been searching in the old posts and havent found anything related to that drug, can I assume nobody here has ever taken it? I know its not a SA treatment related drug, but Im pretty confident itll work on my case, I just want to sleep.

Again, I know Ive pm some of you last night, and I apologize I was really scared and really tired, so maybe some of the things I said didnt make any sense. Dont worry about that, sometimes I go really down without any reason... Im much better now and ready to a good night of sleep! :)

Mark you know that you can send as many pms as you want to.

I am glad you went to your doc. Give it a whirl. Maybe take it with warm milk and make sure you are cuddling Eve when you take it.

You need 8 hours sleep a night and will be better for it.

I think that you are doing the right thing in dealing with the sleep 1st. Maybe you will not need the Anti D's once you are sleeping.

I went through two months of hell on the pills that didn't work for me. The Anti D's gave me night mares. I have had two good week of sleep on Lorazepam but now my 10 days are up and I will try it with out pills. Don't know what will happen may have to see the doc again.
I told him that I don't want to try the Anti D's again. Good news I got a sleep study set for Oct 13. which should help .

Mark - My Doc tried me on Ambien and when I took it, it was effective and gentle. My problem was YOU HAD TO SLEEP AT LEAST 7-8 HOURS! When I did not because I had meetings in the a.m., I got headaches and was not fully myself during the day. Sometimes I couldn't sleep (about 1am or 2am) and I didn't have 8 hours to sleep. Currently I take Restoril which gets you to sleep and is not (I'm told) restricted to 8+ hours. So far, no problems.

Hope the Ambien works for you!

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you know that my first night after taking Ambien was really good, took the pill at 9 pm last night and woke up today at 7 am, 10 hours of sleeping! :D :D :D Didn't wake up during the night and don't even remember whether I had a nightmare or not.

Feeling great for a change.

Great News Mark. These next days should be good for you. Be sure you talk to the DOC next week and get a plan in place for how to go off them. The Meds will help in the short time but you don't want to stay on them too long. Enjoy the next few weeks of restful sleep. Tom
 
I have tried Ambien, Trazadone and Restoril. Also, store bought sleep medicines. Nothing help me to sleep. But it is because I have strong resistance of sleep, going back since I am very young child. Normal sleep for me, it is 3-4 hours a night. Since I start to deal of the abuse issues, it is more of 1-2 hours on a good night. I feel guilt to try sleep. But, I hear of other people who say that Ambien is good, and it wear off during night, so you do not wake up feeling drugs. Good luck with it.
