WE need - A place for our little one to feel SAFE and LEARN to grow STRONG.
I have been given lots of time thinking about how we move forward with this idea. We need to rethink the way we help victim of sexual abuse. After my 10 days at the Farm in KY I know there is a better way. We need to have a place where our little one can have the time and space to feel completely safe. Once our little one is safe he can learn to grow strong and face his abuse issues.

That will take a special HEALING environment that has to be created.
We have the power here to move this forward to reality.

Others get their 28 days in a Treatment Center to help them recover. We must demand equal rights for our pathways to healing. Tom

Most employer-provided insurance plans also have behavioral health coverage that will pay for chemical dependency treatment. Perhaps insurers could be pressured into covering SA treatment ?

When I first looked at the website for The Farm, my heart leaped, only to be crushed upon seeing that The Farm is for *clergy* SA survivors. I readily acknowledge that clergy SA carries some special issues, but ultimately SA is SA and the damage is the same - ruined lives. I'm very glad The Farm is there, but I'd like to see it open to all male survivors.

I know very little about Voice of the Faithful (the US Catholic lay leadership group), so maybe they are already involved in helping survivors, but perhaps they would be interested in expanding The Farm or creating additional such facilities, open to all male SA survivors ? And *without* any Christian emphasis to the treatment program ...

Perhaps Mike Lew and other leaders in the field of male SA survivors would be willing to take on the cause of creating a non-exclusive secular treatment facility like The Farm ?

Also, I think that many Protestant denominations would be willing to get involved in such an effort, too, especially the Quakers and the Unitarian Universalists.

And I think it would be MOST APPROPRIATE to shame the shit out of the Catholic church in order to get them to cough up some no-strings-attached funding.

Just my ramblings ....

That is why I know we have to create a new place like the Farm for other victims of sexual abuse. The healing power in this kind of treatment is soo great.

Also, I think that many Protestant denominations would be willing to get involved in such an effort, too, especially the Quakers and the Unitarian Universalists.
They are already giving some money to the farm.

I saw a interview with Paul Newman about how he takes profit from his food business and does good thin gs with it. He started camps for children with medical issues to come to and relax and have fun away from the hospital.

We need to find people like Paul Newnam to help us move this forward.
There may also be people out there that would give us an old camp or resort that we could use. There has to be some people that would see our needs and help. Tom
