I think that would be a great idea. The posts here are very strong and sometimes i de-sensitize myself when reading, because im not ready to wallow more in the pain. so, an uplifting section would be good to read.

Hey guys!! Great idea for a Rejoicing or/and Celebratibg area. Woven throughout the needs are the occassional celebrations but I agree we can use more.

BTW - I keep a memory box ( regular shoebox with cards, letters, special papers, etc. where others wrote or told me about something special I did for them or said to them ). When things get rough, I read through my memory box to remember things were not always in a bad way and I did very positive things too!

I like the idea. I am learning that there can be fun, even joy, in life as I shed the old behaviors. I know lots of people have posted success stories around the boards at different times, but calling attention to them with their own forum would be nice. We are survivors and pro-survivors, after all, not victims. How better might we show hope to people who come here than through our own lives?

Thanks,

Joe

Squigy - I'll probably get kicked off this site for responding to too many of the postings (only my second visit & am feeling much better already). What has really just cheered me up is the mention of the 'memory boxes' on this posting.

2 years ago, I first mentioned to 3 good friends that I had been abused (I was bladdered at the time & got a lot of shocked support).

The memory box statement has reminded me that in my living room I have a different type of memory box produced by my friends around the time of my drunken release.

It's a circular glass topped coffee table from a junk shop (cost them 5 or around $8). Inside of it they have placed some flyers from the band that I used to be in, beer bottle tops from my favourite brews, concert tickets & all sorts of daft things from my life. You've just reminded me again of the fact that I do have good friends here in England & some new ones on this site. Hope I haven't bollocksed this topic up, but thanks again Squigy.
