C'mon - don't just sit there thinking about it - make your talents and skills known to the team and do what you can.

It's our site, "For Suvivors - By Survivors"

Len / Dave - there must be many people that have read this post & may want to help in some way.

What sort of help is it that is required

However there have also come to light a couple of other areas that are in great need of help.

What are the other areas.

I think that I am doing well personally, but am unsure as to what I could offer. I am not trained in counselling, although I readily offer my opinions/feelings. I've only been dealing with this properly for around 4 months now, so do I have any skills that are relevant?

There are now a number of people that know I was abused, but I have not announced it over a tannoy yet (unlike some of the braver people here)!

Best wishes...Rik

I've put my response here, rather than a pm, as others may be seeking similar answers.

Sorry to be a pain....Rik

The only thing I have to offer is my story.

You guys know that Im vocal about who I am and what happened to me and how my abuse has affected my adult life.

I have my first speaking gig at the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill conference this May. I dont mind appearing in front of a camera, (I appeared on the TODAY show for an unrelated story. (That sound you hear is just my own horn :D )).

I was just thinking that its one thing to see and hear an expert speak about the subject but to hear from someone who has been though it and doesnt have intimidating letters after his name could be another viable angle.

Just throwing that out there, if you can use it, great.

Roland that is terrific. You are used to it and would be a definite asset in helping spread the word.

Now I really want to hear from some of you other guys too.

We need all the help we can get. :)

Rick,
Just about anything would be of help right now. We are in the early stages of the Team. We need people who feel they have at least 15 min's a day to give there thoughts on new idea's for MS. Give new idea's for MS. Work closely with the MS BOD, each committee. We have a very divers group of men on the team right now and we like that. It helps give us a very well rounded view of some of the idea's we have talked out so far. We work very close with the BOD and the committee's to help MS move forward on the main mission statment.
I readily offer my opinions/feelings
This is the kind of thing we are looking for :D . Just to help MS move forward and insure we keep the highest standards on the issues of SA. Hope this helps. Len is much better as wording things than I am, which is why he posted first.

Is this a fundraising committee? A leadership team geared toward raising money? I might be able to help a bit. I've been in and out of the loop and don't really feel like I've done enough to raise funds. Opportunity has been there, but i feel like I haven't come through. anyway just wondering if that is the sort of thing you guys are thinking about doing. Later Jim

Jim,
Fundraising is just one part of the things we are working on. We are here to be "leaders" for Male Survivor, in just about all area's. What we need right now are men who feel they can spend at least 15 min's a day on the leadership team forum adding there thoughts to the idea's that are and will be posted, as well as add there own thoughts on things they think would help MS grow.

Len / Dave / Mike / James (also Roland - I know you're there) I want to help, because this place has helped me so much. I still feel that I am doing OK, but what if I agree to something & then need to change shift - I don't want to let anyone down. I work shifts & obviously spend time here, but I cannot do it every day. Shift pattern means that some weeks are more practical than others.

There are obviously time zone differences between USA / UK / France / Australia & others that come here, so would this impact on what would be required from us?

Hoping for the best for all of us!

Best wishes Rik.

Just another thought - if it came to public fund raising, there are somewhere between 2 (minimum) and I'm not sure what (qty?) people that I still need to tell that I was abused before I could publicly fund raise. The 2 would probably cover it, but that would be the most difficult step for me to take ( don't I sound sad when there are people here that have & are doing the full court case).

Best wishes ...Rik

Rik,
The time diff will not matter. I'll have Len pm you some more info about the LT and then read over it and see if it sounds like something you think you can do. Thanks. And dont worry about the few people who dont know, we will never ask you to do anything you are not ok with. Thats not the reason we are here. :D

James

While Len is at it, could he send me the information too. I am now available to help.

Respectfully submitted,
Bill

I could do something. I have many skills I could let those of you in the Leadership Team use.

I have a lot of time. Letters, research, or whatever.

Marc

I have some skills but to what they are I have no idea.

Im willing to have a go at anything
